Ahhhhh, who doesn't love freshly built trail throu Ahhhhh, who doesn't love freshly built trail through a breathtaking landscape? This recent photo shows off the latest segment of the Arizona National Scenic Trail being built south of Gardner Canyon.

⛏As part of the Temporal Gulch Reroute Project (which will remove the #AZT from 17 miles of paved and dirt roads near the town of #Patagonia) we are excited to be making progress on this monumental undertaking -- which many of you have supported! The current segment is being built with a small trail construction machine and finished by staff and volunteers with hand tools. We are really proud of how this trail is coming to life and hope to have the entire 32 miles completed by Spring of 2023. We will let you know as soon as it's open for recreation!

😄Being able to hike, run, pedal or ride along singletrack through the #SantaRitaMountains instead of dodging mining trucks on Harshaw Road and Razors on Temporal Canyon Road will be a grand improvement to the #arizonatrail.

⛰We are honored to be building this trail on the #CoronadoNationalForest and the ancestral lands of the Tohono O'odham and Ndee (Western Apache).

The @aztassociation acknowledges these mountains are culturally significant to the Acoma, Apache, Havasupai, Hopi, Hualapai, Navajo, Southern Paiute, Yavapai and Zuni. We are dedicated to the preservation of the #ArizonaTrail and the landscapes it traverses for the benefit of all people.

Wishing all of the runners participating in the #A Wishing all of the runners participating in the #AZT #OracleRumble presented by @summithuttucson this Saturday the very best experience on the #ArizonaTrail! Extra special thanks to all volunteers helping out, too!

Ultra-distance runners will experience a challenging and remote segment of the AZT between Freeman Road Trailhead and #OracleStatePark, and half-marathoners and 12K runners will run along trails within @oracle_state_park, including a relatively new segment of the AZT. All event proceeds support our mission to protect, maintain, enhance, promote and sustain the Arizona Trail as a unique encounter with the land.

If you'd like to learn more about the trail running and mountain biking events the Arizona Trail Association organizes, check out runazt.org. Discounted registration is available to ATA members, Native Americans, military veterans, and youth.
Four volunteers joined the Passage 17a steward on Four volunteers joined the Passage 17a steward on a hike to evaluate the condition of the #arizonatrail in the aftermath of the #TelegraphFire and subsequent monsoon flooding. The group hiked from #Picketpost all the way to the southern boundary of Passage 16 at Kelvin. Along the way, the group performed a Stop-Lop-and-Roll operation, trimming problem vegetation and removing fallen cacti from the trail corridor.
