Not a day passes that Ross Zimmerman doesn’t think about his son, Gabe, and feel the empty space left by an assassin’s bullet. “He was my sounding board for ideas,” Zimmerman said. “He was so good at human relations. They used to call him the ‘constituent whisperer’ in Congresswoman Giffords’ office. There’s no telling where he might have gone.” But instead, he was gone, on a cold, clear morning outside a suburban grocery store, four years ago Thursday.
