#highlinetrail update~ 🔸The 1.2-mile realignmen #highlinetrail update~ 🔸The 1.2-mile realignment to take the #AZT off a steep climb heading south from Geronimo Trailhead, was scouted, flagged and cleared in early 2023. After several delays, the work will continue in early November. ⚒️This past weekend, volunteers walked the route to ensure it is visible to the machine operator after the West Fire (the most recent delay). Speaking of the West Fire - check out those melted pens in the trailhead register box! 😳 Some of the old re-route flagging remained, but in other places, we had to examine burned brush stubs to see if they had been cut or just burned. Another fine day on the #arizonatrail!

Despite facing unexpected challenges—like intense heat, trail closures, and nearby fires—175 of you showed up to tackle sections of the Arizona Trail.
