The laid-back mountain town of Flagstaff is a favorite among AZT users, and has become one of the greatest trail towns in the Southwest. It’s also the home of Dale Shewalter, the father of the Arizona Trail, and he is commemorated with an Arizona Trail sign and bench in Buffalo Park. Flagstaff has a great bus system for getting around town and has all the amenities a trail user needs.
