It was #Environmentalday at the Arizona State Capi It was #Environmentalday at the Arizona State Capitol today! Check out what an amazing student wrote on this postcard to @govhobbs (many others did too)!

Yesterday, the Arizona Senate Natural Resources Co Yesterday, the Arizona Senate Natural Resources Committee voted on #SB1041, a bill recently introduced by Senator Wendy Rogers that would dedicate $500,000 for the #ArizonaTrailFund. This would be used to pay state-approved contractors to work on priority trail construction and maintenance projects on the #AZT.

We are excited to announce that it passed with a nearly unanimous YES vote. We are grateful for State Senators Shope, Dunn, Carroll, Gabaldón, Gowan, Hatathlie, and Sundareshan for voting YES in support of the Arizona Trail. If you live in a district represented by these senators, please send them your thanks. To find out who represents you in the Arizona Legislature and how to reach them, visit: https://www.azleg.gov/findmylegislator/

This is the first of many steps in SB1041 being included in the State's FY2027 budget. As it moves through the appropriations process we will need everyone to reach out to their senators and representatives and urge them to vote YES on SB1041 to support the Arizona Trail Fund. After all, shouldn't the state of #Arizona be supporting the #ArizonaTrail?!? The ATA is committed to triple the State's contributions with federal grants, private donations, and volunteer labor.

🌵This trail marathon, half-marathon and 10K traverses the valley between the Santa Rita and the #RinconMountains. It offers spectacular, sweeping views and while the marathon has plenty of challenging ups and downs along the foothills of the #SantaRitaMountains, the half-marathon and 10K courses offer mostly a gentle, winding descent through ocotillo, prickly pear cactus, creosote, and mesquite.
