Hiking and Trail Repair
On May 8, 2013, 69 students from Kinsey Inquiry and Discovery School 5th grade went out to do trail work on Little Elden Trail from the Elden Lookout parking area.
With our friends from the US Forest service, half the class got to work tread repair and drainage while the other half went for a semester ending hike to practice navigation, LNT principles, and bonding with their classmates after a school year full of fun and learning.
After a hearty lunch and, of course, some cookies, students switched groups and had a chance to do the other set of activities.
These 5th graders take such great pride in their ability to use tools, identify plants and know how to behave in the forest. Teachers and staff are all so thrilled to see the growth in this group throughout the school year.
