Page council mulls AZ Trail gateway community moniker

The City of Page is being asked to promote the Arizona Trail as a gateway community, even though the 817-mile-long favorite of hikers does not pass through Page.
The 30-year-old trail, the brainchild of a late Flagstaff teacher, brushes near the western boundary of Vermilion Cliffs National Monument west of Page. The trailhead is located about 75 minutes’ drive from Page, Page City Councilmembers were told Wednesday night by Sirena Dufault, the trail’s Gateway Community Liaison.
