Let's Head Up the Hill Passage 16

Please join the ATA on December 7-8 on Passage 16 in the Mineral Mountains near Kearny for a trail work event. We’ll establish a campsite on Friday evening before heading out Saturday morning north towards the hill. This project is rated as moderate.

Last Veteran Volunteer Work Work Weekend of 2024!
Join the AZT VETS (Veteran Engagement & Trail Stewardship) Program, with support from Colossal Cave Mountain Park, for a special pre-Christmas VVWW improving the trail corridor on Passage 8B of the Arizona National Scenic Trail between La Posta Quemada Ranch and Pistol Hill Rd.
Event Schedule:
Thursday, December 12: Meet near Colossal Cave Mountain Park; we will camp at La Selvilla Campground or La Posta Quemada Ranch (TBD). Volunteers will set up shelters, followed by a meet-and-greet, a homemade dinner, and a fireside safety briefing.
Friday & Saturday, December 13 - 14: Enjoy breakfast at camp, followed by a quick tool and trail construction class. We’ll work on the trail, with lunch provided on-site, and conclude the day with dinner back at camp.
Sunday, December 15: After breakfast, we’ll continue trail work for 2-4 hours (weather permitting), gather for feedback, and wrap up with an early afternoon departure.
Details:
Most meals are provided at no extra cost to participants. Pre-registration is required, and we welcome all ages and abilities. However, please remember that trail work may involve hiking several miles and engaging in moderate to strenuous physical labor. Registration is limited to 16 volunteers, so sign up today!
This opportunity is for veterans only. It provides a space for service members to connect, share experiences, and create new memories while working together on the Arizona National Scenic Trail.
