What if we added in access to the largest lake completely within Arizona and an epic rockwork event to the pot? Wouldn’t you want a part of that action? Have we got the opportunity for you!
This is a 4-day, 3-night car-camping adventure. Basecamp will be established at the Frazier Horse Camp on the shore of Roosevelt Lake. Each day, volunteers will drive and hike to the work location.

Join Friends of the Tonto NF volunteers for a 4 day/3 night backpack to brush & clear dead-fall on Sheep Creek Trail. Friends has a grant to hire ACE crews to clear the trail & needs 100 volunteer hours. The group will be camping in McFarland Cyn near an intermittent stream, under tall evergreen trees. Tools will be provided, but participants must be self-supported, food, tent, sleeping bag, etc.
McFarland Cyn is a moderate 4 mile hike north of Mormon Grove TH on Saddle Mountain Trail. Once Sheep Creek TR is cleared it will provide a loop trip on Davenport & Arizona trails.
From Hwy. 87 mile marker 222 turn west at Sycamore Crk sign. Turn right at dirt road across cattle guard. Turn left at next cattle guard. Turn left at sign & cross Sycamore Crk to TH.
