Hiking the 800-mile Arizona Trail can be a lonely journey. Just ask any of the four hikers who stopped in Pine on Monday to replenish their backpacks with food and supplies from the Ponderosa Market. “We are about halfway through and we’ve seen only about 10 people on the trail,” said hiker Emily Roberge of Tempe. “We’ve been mostly to ourselves.”
