Lead Coach Wanted for Gear Girls Program in Flagstaff

If you love mountain biking and want to help make mountain biking a more equitable sport, consider joining our team as a Lead Coach! Gear Girls coaches serve as instructors and role models for the next generation of young women riders. Coaching with us is an opportunity to share your skillset, positively influence girls’ lives in your community, and combine your passion with your work.

Gear Girls uses mountain biking, trail work, and snow sports to build confidence, outdoor competence, community, and character in young women grades 4-8. Girls learn practical skills in trail building, mountain biking, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing, while absorbing lessons in mindfulness, teamwork, and determination that will prepare them for life’s bigger challenges. Girls from Flagstaff meet weekly for ten weeks per session and are coached by a supportive all-women staff in a low pressure setting.

All programs are provided at no cost to participants, with the ATA covering all expenses associated with compensation for Coordinator and coaches, transportation, gear, healthy snacks, swag for participants, and other resources, materials, and tools as needed. Our goal is to eliminate all barriers to participation so that youth can explore trails close to home, connect with landscapes on a deeper level, and be actively involved in the stewardship of public lands and the Arizona Trail.
