March 19-20, 2016
Our first Steward Conference will be held at Oracle State Park March 19-20th. Below is a link to a flyer outlining the schedule and some of the details of the event.
Oracle State Park preserves more than 3,900 acres of beautiful oak studded grasslands north of Tucson. The historic Kannally Ranch house offers fascinating information on the history of the area as well as sweeping views of the San Pedro River Valley and Galiuro Mountains. We are thrilled that the park has agreed to host our event and allow us use of the Ranch House for our event.
Oracle is one of the Arizona Trail’s Gateway Communities, and has been host to several ATA events. Oracle has had many incarnations as a gold mining town, a haven for people suffering from tuberculosis, a Hollywood filming location with dude ranches filled with movie stars, an artists’ retreat, and a retirement community.
The town is nestled in the foothills of the northern portion of the Santa Catalina Mountains. The American Flag Ranch was the first post office serving Oracle and is Arizona’s oldest existing territorial post office building.
Camping and Lodging
Camping will be available in Oracle State Park near the Group Use Area (this is a special concession just for our event). Accommodations may also be available in nearby Oracle or for more options, there are options in the town of Catalina approximately 17 miles southwest.
