Beware of Overhead Powerline Construction

During October 1-9, we anticipate overhead powerline work occurring near the Arizona National Scenic Trail north of Tiger Mine Trailhead along Passage 14. This is part of the SunZia transmission line project — a $10 billion multi-state energy endeavor to deliver electricity from New Mexico to California, and the transmission lines cross the AZT. No ground impacts or trail closures are anticipated, and the contractors from Pattern Energy intend to use helicopters to install the transmission lines. But if you plan to be on the Arizona Trail north of Tiger Mine road during that time, expect a lot of activity in the air and on the ground nearby.
