Community Thanks: Nordic Village proves perfect host

Arizona Daily Sun (October 22, 2019)

On the weekend of October 5 and 6, the Arizona Trail Association held a trail steward workshop at the Nordic Village (aka the Nordic Center), which generously provided free camping for the event on its gorgeous property. In addition, the Nordic Village donated use of its Nature Discovery Center, a spacious yurt with Wifi, a wood stove and a beautiful “oculus” skylight, for Saturday’s stewardship classes and morning warm up operations.

On Sunday, a dozen volunteers and staff from the ATA drove north on Hwy 180 with picks and shovels to improve Arizona Trail passage #35, working in brilliant autumn sunshine, with great views of the peaks, was a pleasure. Major kudos to Babbitt Ranches for offering the Nordic Village accommodations and for welcoming AZT users to traverse 24 miles of its grassland, Passage 35, between Flagstaff and Grand Canyon.
