Public Comments Needed for Arizona Trail Improvement Project
The Coronado National Forest is seeking public comments for a proposed 10.7-mile trail construction project that we have been working on for the past two years. Located near Kentucky Camp on Passage 5, this project will replace all existing road miles with sustainable singletrack. This will improve the Arizona Trail experience for hikers, runners, mountain bikers and equestrians; improve public safety by removing the trail from Forest roads where motorized recreation is very popular; and align with the nature and purpose of the AZT as a non-motorized path.
Please take a few moments to comment through the US Forest Service website today. The deadline to submit comments is December 24, 2024. The 30-day public comment period is an important part of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process, as projects on public land require input from the public. Thank you for helping support this trail improvement project – the first of many over the next year to help us reach our goal of replacing existing road miles with trail.
