Rosemont Copper Project Could Realign Arizona Trail

If Rosemont Copper is awarded their permits from the US Forest Service to build an open pit copper mine in the Santa Rita Mountains, a 10.6-mile segment of the Arizona Trail will need to be realigned to avoid mining impacts. Rosemont has agreed to pay for all costs associated with the new trail, as well as building two new trailheads, improving a water source for equestrians, installing interpretive signs, and installing fences and gates to keep OHVs off the trail.
