UK Man Breaks Record After Hiking Arizona Trail in 14 days, 12 hours

An Englishman broke the record for the fastest time on the Arizona Trail. It extends from the Utah-Arizona border to our border with Mexico. Most people take their time, 40 to 50 days, with rest days in between. But not Joshua Perry. He completed the 800-mile trail is 14 days, 12 hours, and 21 minutes.

It’s been two weeks since Perry set the fastest known time on the Arizona Trail. But his appetite for the sport hasn’t waned.

“I’m hungry all the time,” Perry laughed.

To take five months off and hike in the U.S., Perry said he works 60 to 110 hour weeks at three jobs when he’s home in the U.K.

He sent himself packages to communities along the trail, full of sour gummy worms and pop tarts, eating every 30 minutes.

“I was eating 8,000 calories a day, the only way you can carry that much is by having junk food,” said Perry.

And despite hiking 55 miles a day, he only lost 5 pounds.
