Arizona Trail Passages

The Arizona Trail is divided into 43 passages, which are listed below in order from south to north. Clicking on a passage name will bring up more detailed information about that specific passage. Detailed maps, profile, track and waypoints can be found under ‘Resources’ for each passage.

  • Map refers to the downloadable passage map for that passage.
  • Profile refers to the downloadable trail elevation profile available for that passage.
  • Track and Waypoints refer to downloadable GPS data for that passage. Waypoint GPS files relate to the Databook; Waypoint MP files are the mileposts running south to north.

The Passage GPS data are digitized datasets representing the Arizona National Scenic Trail. They have been exported from GIS (Geographic Information Systems) software and reduced in detail to enable each passage to be loaded onto any GPS, regardless of memory size.

For all GPX files:

  • Right-click and choose “save as” or “download linked file”
  • If the file downloads as a .txt file, remove the “.txt” from the file name to use it as a GPX file

The Arizona Trail is a work in progress. The trail is complete and well-signed; however, sections may change or be rerouted due to wildfire, environmental, or administrative decisions. The track and waypoints data provide the best available information.

Please use common sense when using the Arizona Trail. Do not rely on any ONE piece of trail information. Carry a map and compass, GPS unit, or smartphone using the Arizona Trail App (and know how to use them). Contact the local agency for current weather and trail conditions. Make sure you, your equipment, and animals are ready for all the rugged conditions you may encounter. We want you to have a safe and memorable experience exploring the Arizona Trail.
